Before the Procedure
- If you have any questions, you may call our office at (321)364-1001.
- PLEASE LEAVE YOUR VALUABLES AT HOME.
- You must have a driver, and arrive 30 minutes prior to procedure.
- EATING: Nothing to eat or drink 6 hours prior to procedure.
- MEDICATIONS:
- STOP blood thinner medications ____days before your appointment, if instructed by Dr. Patel.
- STOP metformin the day of your appointment, resume following day.
- If you are diabetic and take insulin, ask your doctor about modifying your insulin dose for the day of your procedure.
- If you take Glucophage or Glucovance, DO NOT take it on the morning of the procedure or 48 hours after your procedure. Your personal physician must be notified of the test and the need to stop the medication. A blood test may be required before resuming the medication.
- Take all other medications as directed with a small sip of water.
- BRING ESSENTIAL PRESCIBED MEDICATION WITH YOU AT THE APPOINTMENT. i.e., Medications for breathing problems (such as inhalers), medications for chest pain, Valium, pain medication etc.
- ALLERGIES: If you are allergic to contrast (X-ray dye), call our office at (321)364-1001 for further instructions. We will then plan to take precautions for the procedure by prescribing medications prior to the procedure.
- If you have a history of a complication from prior Anesthesia, please let Dr. Patel know.
- Wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing.
- On the day of your procedure, you will fill out paperwork and possibly have blood drawn for final lab work.
- You will change into a gown; IV line placed and be taken to a procedure room that might feel similar to a surgical suite. You will lie on a special table and we will dim or turn off the lights. In most cases, you will receive an injection at the start of the procedure to provide necessary dye, medication or sedation.
