Trigger Point Injections

Trigger point injections can reduce localized muscle pain by relaxing the affected muscles and interrupting the nerve signaling pathways that cause referred pain. A small amount of local anesthetic, sometimes combined with a steroid, is injected into the trigger point (tight muscle). There may be some slight soreness or bruising after the injection.
