Occipital Nerve Block

During an occipital nerve block, a few milliliters of local anesthetic, sometimes combined with steroids, are injected into the scalp where the occipital nerve resides. The injection is done at the back of the head just above the neck. A very fine needle is used for the injection. There will some temporary numbness and soreness after the injection.
