Biography

Dr. Smita Mahapatra is a board-certified pediatrician that joined Forest Lane Pediatrics in 2019 after working for 4 years as a newborn/pediatric hospitalist in Indianapolis and Houston. Although she is originally from the Midwest and completed all of her education and residency training there, she is happy to call the Dallas area home now.

Coming from a very large family, she has always loved spending time with children and feels privileged to be able to provide personal and medical support for children and their families in any way that she can. She also loves being a part of her community and has participated in many volunteer activities through the years including Adolescent Substance Abuse Prevention Programs, Community Leadership Mentor Programs, Education for Tomorrow Alliance, and various children’s health fairs.

Dr. Mahapatra resides in the west Plano area. In her free time, she enjoys leading an active and balanced life that includes lots of family and friend time, Orange Theory Fitness, Indian/Latin dancing, traveling, hiking, and baking.
