Prostate Screening

Detect Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is a common type of cancer in American men. The prostate is a golf ball-sized gland that is located underneath the bladder and in front of the rectum. Prostate cancer is typically a slow-growing cancer. Screening tests can identify most prostate cancers before symptoms develop.

Many forms of prostate cancer can be treated if detected early. The American Cancer Society recommends that men receive a yearly digital rectal examination and PSA blood test beginning at age 50, or earlier (between age 40- 45) for men at high risk .
