Home Sleep Testing
Home sleep testing for obstructive sleep apnea
At Advanced Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, we utilize home sleep testing to diagnose sleep apnea whenever possible. It is less expensive and more convenient for patients than lab-based testing. Home sleep testing is currently limited to the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea. It cannot be used to diagnose narcolepsy or movement disorders.
Home sleep testing is highly beneficial because it can monitor oxygen level, airflow, respiratory effort, movements, and position.
Unlike a lab-based sleep study, home sleep testing does not monitor brain waves, muscle activity, eye activity, or the heart's electrical activity. Additionally, no one makes sure the signal quality is adequate with a home sleep test.
95% success rate
