Dear Patients, Friends and Colleagues:

With mixed emotions I have decided to retire on December 13, 2024. Although I am leaving, Fairfax Gynecology Group will continue to exist. I have been very lucky to welcome Marina Arutyunyan, DO and Ashley Wade-Vuturo, MD to the practice. They, along with Carlyn Penwell, DNP, APRN, CNP and Shara Chen, PA-C are terrific clinicians, integral members of our practice, and providers of excellent medical care. I hope you will take the time to establish a relationship and continue your care with them. They are all outstanding clinicians, well-trained and with great bedside manners, and I trust them completely to continue to handle your gynecological needs.

I have had a wonderful career as a Gynecologist. The most special part of my career has been the relationships I have had with you which have been incredibly rewarding and have greatly enriched my life. I have learned so much by listening to you all. I have loved taking care of you-your medical problems as well as being a part of your lives; sometimes providing medical care to some of the babies (now adults) that I delivered! I hope I have made as much of a difference in as many of your lives as you have in mine. My goal has always been to provide individualized comprehensive gynecology care which includes knowing your full medical history as well as performing a full physical exam. While medicine has changed in 30 years please do not settle for less. You deserve the same level of care.

I have been practicing OB/Gyn and Gyn-only in Fairfax for 33 years and have been in the DMV since 1980 when I started medical school at GWU. My husband and I have raised our 2 daughters in Northern Virginia. As you all know I am from Boston and will always be a New Englander at heart. My husband is continuing his work at Inova and we will stay in this area for the next few years at least. I want to spend more time with my daughters in Boston and Paris as well as at our house in Maine. I also have other interests I want to pursue such as re-learning French, exercising and quilting.
