As an independent facility, our team of clinical research endocrinologists at the Research Institute of Dallas works with a broad spectrum of sponsors to assist each of them with their clinical endocrine research.

Clinical Research Studies in Endocrinology

Our areas of investigation include medical therapies for the prevention and/or treatment of the following conditions:

  • Type 1 Diabetes, also called juvenile onset diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM)
  • Type 2 Diabetes, also called adult-onset diabetes or non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM)
  • Gestational Diabetes: Blood glucose levels can rise to diabetic levels during pregnancy requiring treatment
  • Diabetic complications: Diabetic Ketoacidosis
  • Hyperlipidemia
  • Obesity and Hormone Effects
  • Osteoporosis/bone metabolism
  • Thyroid disorders, such as hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism
  • Thyroid nodule and cancer
  • Parathyroid disorders
  • Adrenal disorders, such as Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia, Addison’s disease or other types of adrenal dysfunction
  • Hormone deficiency in men and women, such as imbalance in estrogen or testosterone levels
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Infertility
  • Pituitary Gland Disorders
  • Abnormal growth and pubertal development in children
  • Growth hormone deficiency or excess, such as acromegaly
  • Acromegaly

In addition, we have conducted studies on the long term cardiovascular safety of various medications. Our close association with subspecialists in other medical fields has also provided opportunities to participate in clinical studies involving such conditions as depression and anxiety.
