Electromyography (EMG) involves testing the electrical activity of muscles. EMG testing is often performed with another test called nerve conduction study. EMG conduction study. EMG may aid in the diagnosis of nerve compression or injury such as carpal tunnel syndrome, nerve root injury, and other problems of the muscles or nerves.
An electroencephalogram (EEG) is a test that measures and records the electrical activity of your brain. Special sensor electrodes are attached to your head and hooked by wires to a computer. Your brain’s electrical activity is recorded for Dr. Ahmed’s to evaluate epilepsy, seizures, and dizziness.
Sleep studies are tests that record brain and body activity during sleep. They are helpful in the identification of sleep disorders. Polysomnogram, a type of sleep study, is conducted to rule out obstructive sleep apnea. It is also used to evaluated Restless Leg Syndrome and excessive daytime sleepiness.
Neuropsychological tests measure memory, concentration, visual-spatial, problem solving, counting, emotional states and language skills. Typically, these tests are performed to evaluate dementia, mild memory loss, attention deficit disorder, anxiety, and depression.
Trigger Point Injection (TPI) may be an option in treating pain for some patients. TPI is a procedure used to treat painful areas of muscle that contain trigger points, or knots of muscle that form when muscles do not relax.
BOTOX®, (onabotulinumtoxinA) is a prescription medicine that is injected to prevent headaches in adults with chronic migraine.
