Our Practice
We specialize in sleep disorders, providing care for children, adults, and seniors. We treat each patient like family. Our compassionate, professional staff is dedicated to providing the highest level of care possible. Because we are physician-owned, we are patient-driven. This means that we can focus more on providing excellent care and less on the bottom line. We are not tied to any large medical corporation. We provide effective care that is responsive to the needs of the community. Being physician-owned means that our doctors are able to focus on you! We treat all sleep-related complaints, such as excessive daytime sleepiness, fatigue, insomnia, restless legs, nightmares, ADHD, fibromyalgia, obstructive sleep apnea, infant breathing disorders, narcolepsy, hypertension, stroke, and obesity-related breathing problems.
Take the Sleep Challenge
If you are sleepy, snoring, fatigued, lacking sleep, or have other sleep concerns, use the following evaluation.
Use the following scale to choose the most appropriate number for each situation:
- Would never doze or sleep
- Slight chance of dozing or sleeping
- Moderate chance of dozing or sleeping
- High chance of dozing or sleeping
Print out this test, fill in your answers, and see where you stand.
Situation | Chance of Dozing or Sleeping |
Sitting and reading | -------- |
Watching TV | -------- |
Sitting inactive in a public place | -------- |
Being a passenger in a motor vehicle for an hour or more | -------- |
Lying down in the afternoon | -------- |
Sitting and talking to someone | -------- |
Sitting quietly after lunch (no alcohol) | -------- |
Stopped for a few minutes in traffic while driving | -------- |
Total score (add the scores up) (This is your Epworth score) | -------- |
A number in the range 0–9 is considered normal, while specialist medical advice is recommended for a number in the range 10–24, which can be due to sleep apnea or other sleep disorders.
The Epworth Sleepiness Scale has been validated primarily in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). It is used to measure excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) and is repeated after the administration of treatment to document improvement of symptoms, especially if narcolepsy is suspected. It is more sensitive in narcolepsy than in OSA.
