MRI

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a type of scan that uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed images of the inside of the body. Our 1.5 Tesla GE MRI scanner is a large tube that contains these powerful magnets. You lie inside the tube during the scan. MRI scans are a non-invasive and painless procedure and can be used to examine almost any part of the body.

Some individuals may not be able to have an MRI scan if they have any implanted devices, embedded shrapnel or metal, recent surgery, are wider than the tube opening, or are claustrophobic. A preliminary screening during scheduling will help determine if an MRI scan can be performed.
