Important Announcement!

To my patients,

I want to share the news with you that on April 1 I will be pursuing a new and exciting stage in my career for which I will be leaving Maryland. Some of you I have known for many years, and some of you I have met only recently. Some of you I have had a chance to see one last time in person, but some of you who come less frequently may not see me again. I will miss all of you, and I am grateful for the trust that you have placed in me and for the opportunity to get to know each of you.

I hope that I have helped to improve your life in some way, and I want you to know that I have learned something new from each one of you. I understand that many of you may be concerned about what will happen with your care, and I want to assure you that I have made every effort to make sure you have the same quality of care that you have come to expect going forward. Here are the important points to know:

1) I have a colleague, Dr. Alex Ramos, who will move into my office and assume the care of all my patients. Dr. Ramos is a superb neurologist who, like me, has a special interest in treating people with seizures and epilepsy. Importantly, Dr. Ramos shares my values of listening to his patients and offering the highest quality of care with compassion. I have no doubt that you will be in good hands. Dr. Ramos will have all of your history and records so there will be no gap in your care.

2) The office will remain at its current location in Silver Spring, and the staff who you have come to know will be the same. The name of the practice will be Mid-Atlantic Epilepsy Center, Silver Spring Office. (They have another location in Bethesda).

3) Dr. Ramos will use a different electronic medical record system, so my portal (called My Privia) will close on *March 31, 2025* and I will no longer see any messages that are sent via the portal. If you have an appointment on or after April 1, it will be moved to Dr. Ramos’ schedule and he will see you at your scheduled visit. If you need to reach us or have any questions about your upcoming appointment, please call the office at (301) 456-5810.

4) I know how important it is that you have your medicine on time. I want to make sure that you do not experience any delays in obtaining refills. On or after April 1, if you are aware that you need a refill, please call the office to make sure we have received a request from your pharmacy (as it is impossible for us to inform all pharmacies of the change of providers) and we will ensure that Dr. Ramos has refilled your prescription.

5) If you would like to request a record of your care, please contact Privia at (888) 774-8428.

Sincerely,

Gregory C. Mathews, MD.
