Biography

Dr. Stephens is double Board-certified in Anesthesiology and Interventional Pain Management by the American Board of Anesthesiology.  Prior to beginning his medical training Dr. Stephens attended Auburn University where he received his Doctor in Clinical Pharmacology.  After working as a pharmacist for 7 years, he pursued his dream of becoming a physician and received his medical degree from LSU in New Orleans, which is his hometown.  He then completed his residency in Anesthesiology followed by a Subspeciality Fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at the University of Miami one of the nation’s leading Anesthesiology and Interventional Pain Management training centers.

Dr Stephens brings with him a passion for treating patients and incorporates his unique medical background that includes both his medical and pharmacy expertise.  He employs a multi-disciplinary approach when treating patients utilizing his in-depth knowledge of pharmacology and skills incorporating advanced ultra-sound and fluoroscopy guided interventional procedures to treat pain and assist patients in regaining control of their lives.  Prior to co-founding Space Coast Spine & Pain Institute, Dr. Stephens moved to Melbourne, FL in 2016 where he practiced as an Interventional Pain Management Specialist with Health First Medical Group and started a multidisciplinary inpatient pain management service at Holmes Reginal Medical Center where he continues with inpatient privileges.

In his free time, Dr. Stephens enjoys spending time with his wife, Allison and three children.  Dr. Stephens is an avid scuba diver and relaxes by spending time at the beach or out on his boat.  Additionally, he has had many unique life experiences including filling the role as “Aubie” the official mascot at Auburn University and has had the opportunity to travel around the world which has given him a unique prospective of working with people from many different backgrounds.  To date, Dr. Stephens has traveled to over 46 countries including regions of Southeast Asia, South America, Africa, Central America and the Middle East.
