Biography

Dr. Patel is a co-founder and the Medical Director of Space Coast Spine and Pain Institute.

Dr. Patel has always believed that chronic pain is a journey, which may or may not end with a PILL or an INJECTION, and for that reason he believes that it is very important to work with and get to know the patients, taking time to understand their problems, and come up with an individualized plan. "I always tell my patients that their pain is REAL, it is my responsibility as a Pain Doctor to figure out how to help them, because every single patient is unique."

"Sometimes, just looking at the patient, not the computer screen, and listening to them carefully, may not only help you to come up with a diagnosis, but it will also definitely make the patient feel that someone is willing to listen to them and that they are in good hands."

Dr. Patel completed his Doctor of Medicine from the prestigious Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Gujarat, "Where all the PATELS come from." After graduating from one of the toughest medical school programs, Dr. Patel decided to pursue further education and training in the United States. After scoring high on his board exams, he joined the residency program at the department of Anesthesiology, Pain Management & Perioperative Medicine at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, one of the most rigorous and complete training programs not only in the Midwest, but in the entire country.

"I really enjoyed Cardiothoracic and Obstetric Anesthesia, and I was awarded The Outstanding Anesthesiology Resident of the year 2014-2015, but I missed the patient interaction and long-term relationship. I felt it would give me tremendous satisfaction if I could make a difference in the quality of their lives and follow through. That led me to pursue further training in Pain management."

Dr. Patel then went on to complete an Interventional Pain management Fellowship at the same institution. The Fellowship training program at Henry Ford Health System is one of the most complete, multidisciplinary programs that not only includes learning about injections and medications, but also involves deep understanding of the role of Behavior Therapy, Chiropractic, PT, Acupuncture, Physical Medicine, Neurology, EMG, and Neuroradiology in treating pain. After practicing for a year in Raleigh, NC, Dr. Patel moved to beautiful Brevard County and joined Health First medical Group. Honoring the circumstances, Dr. Patel along with his two partners, founded Space Coast Spine and Pain Institute (SCSP).

"There’s no other place my family and I can imagine living in other than in Brevard - beautiful weather, right on the East Coast, and amazing friends. I spend a lot of time outdoors with my wife and two beautiful daughters, enjoying the Florida sunshine."

Dr. Patel is an avid Golfer, plays weekly, and even keeps a practice mat and golf clubs in the clinic. "It gives me immense satisfaction when I see my patients back on the golf course, enjoying quality time after pain treatments."
