Beyond his professional pursuits, Dr. Aref cherishes his time with his family in the vibrant surroundings of Florida. He is an avid outdoorsman, enjoying activities such as hiking and exploring nature. Dr. Aref is multilingual, fluent in Arabic and proficient in Spanish, which allows him to connect with a diverse range of patients. 

His patients often recognize his enthusiasm for sports, particularly basketball, and his deep understanding of sports injuries from personal experience. Dr. Aref is actively involved in CrossFit and finds fulfillment in helping patients recover from sports-related injuries and achieve their fitness goals. 

In his leisure time, Dr. Aref indulges his passion for reading, particularly historical literature, which further enriches his understanding of the world and informs his approach to patient care. His unwavering dedication to medicine, combined with his diverse interests and commitment to lifelong learning, continues to make Dr. Aref a respected and valued member of the medical community.

Biography

Dr. Aref was born and raised in Egypt, surrounded by the rich history and culture of Cairo. Growing up, he developed a deep appreciation for learning and medicine. He pursued his medical education at Cairo University, one of the oldest and most prestigious medical schools globally, laying the foundation for his future career in healthcare. 

After completing his medical degree, Dr. Aref embarked on a journey to the United States to further his medical training. He chose to specialize in family medicine, recognizing the importance of providing comprehensive care to individuals and families. Dr. Aref completed his residency at the University of Southern Illinois, where his dedication and leadership skills led him to be appointed as the chief resident in his final year. Driven by his commitment to excellence, Dr. Aref became board certified in family medicine and earned fellowship status with the American Board of Family Medicine, showcasing his expertise and dedication to the field. 

Throughout his career, Dr. Aref has been deeply involved in medical education. He serves as a preceptor for medical students, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners at the USF School of Medicine and School of Nursing, imparting his knowledge and passion for medicine to the next generation of healthcare professionals. Since 2006, Dr. Aref has been in private practice in Florida, where he combines his clinical expertise with his passion for preventive medicine and holistic approaches to healthcare. He believes in promoting healthy lifestyles, emphasizing the importance of exercise, weight management, and holistic healing modalities to enhance longevity and overall well-being.
