Personal Interests

In her rare spare time, she enjoys gardening, cooking, entertaining, fishing, photography, and keeping up with her family of friends scattered far and wide. She is an avid naturalist and enjoys learning new species of birds and plants.

Biography

Born and raised in McLean, Virginia, Dr. Methvin attended Langley High School and the University of Virginia. She moved to San Francisco after college and spent three years taking classes and doing social psychology research at UCSF. She attended medical school at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana and then completed her residency in Family Medicine in Asheville, North Carolina at Mountain Area Health Education Center. She then moved to Shenandoah County, where she has lived since 2002.

Dr. Methvin is married to John Trent, an attorney, and has two adult stepchildren, two dogs, four cats, and a bunch of chickens. They live in an old farmhouse in the first of the Seven Bends of the North Fork.
