Biography

Dr. Mark Taylor is dedicated to serving his neighbors and community to the best of his abilities in as many ways as possible. As a board-certified family medicine physician, he has the honor and pleasure of providing care to individuals as well as whole families. As such, he is uniquely positioned to form lasting ongoing relationships with his patients.

Dr. Taylor earned his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry with a minor in Biology at Virginia Tech and continued his education at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College of Virginia where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. He completed his family medicine internship and residency at the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, at the time a University of Virginia College of Medicine Graduate Medical Education program.

Dr. Taylor believes that since he is able to form long-term relationships of trust with patients, he can provide them with better care. He will do everything in his power, abilities and authority to help his patients however he can within safe boundaries and in accordance with the standards of medical care. Dr. Taylor serves his patients with expertise and experience and is dedicated to being there for his patients in their hard times and will never judge them unfairly. He is also dedicated to the care of the caregivers, an often overlooked but essential part of a patient’s health.

To Dr. Taylor, it is an honor to be able to teach patients and interpret medical terminology in a way that helps them understand what is going on with them. Listening to patients and getting to know them is a joy, and Dr. Taylor’s favorite part of being a family medicine doctor. He feels privileged to integrate into their lives and share the excitement of their accomplishments, their joys and their struggles. Dr. Taylor is there to be strong for his patients when they can’t be strong themselves.

When not working, Dr. Taylor enjoys going to church, mission work and spending time with his family. He enjoys outdoor hobbies, sports activities, travel and the beach. Dr. Taylor loves how our state provides a complete variety of all seasonal changes. The geography provides beautiful national forests, rivers, mountains, farmland and just enough urban areas. But if you ask Dr. Taylor about his favorite thing about where he lives, it’s being part of the community he serves. He finds the people to be especially friendly and grateful and it gives him great joy.
